A few things you may not know about me

As I was considering today’s blog post and what I would write about, there was a little voice in my head that said “I’d like to get to know you better”. So friends here’s your opportunity too, if you’d like to join the conversation, leave a comment and tell me a few things about yourself that I don’t know about you.

As for me, you might not know…

I’m originally from a tiny town in Alabama and on occasion I do still have a slight southern accent.

I left home at the tender age of 16 to begin my life’s adventure.

It was love at first sight when I met my husband.

I have been known to cut my hair right before my hair appointment (Crystal if you’re reading this, I’ll be in on Friday and the back will definitely need to be fixed. ha!)

Goodwill is underrated, it’s one of my favorite places to shop for cool things.

I appreciate beauty in it’s many forms like these faded flowers, aren’t they beautiful in their own way?

Although I’ve had my own share of bad experiences, I’m an optimist and continue to find the good in people.

I’m thankful for the daily blessings that come my way.

Sweet Treats

Are these little bags cute or what? When I ship my hearts to customers I normally package them in a brown textured box with my signature gold “Tejae’s Art” logo. Lately though I’ve been playing around with alternative packaging. I’m loving the little organza drawstring bags & I sewed them up myself!

On a personal note, today my mom, Lilli, is having knee replacement surgery, then Monday she’ll have another one to replace her other knee. Please send good thoughts her way. Although she’s been in a lot of pain with her knees, she was looking forward to the surgery but a little nervous. I told her when they put her to sleep today to dream of dancing in some beautiful far off land. She liked that. ♥

Love is in the Air

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. My favorite holiday of the year! Not because of the flowers, chocolates or fluff, but because I’m the luckiest woman alive to have found my absolute soul mate. I adore Tim. One day I’ll share the story of how we met. It was love at first sight for both of us. (A big fish moment, if you’ve ever seen the movie.) He is my best friend, who makes me laugh on a daily basis and supports me through all my creative explorations. He’s the love my life and I’m so blessed to share my life with him. He inspires me on so many levels. I love you honey!

My friend, Danica, is getting married next month. The theme is “rustic chic”. So this weekend I played around with a few hearts in a nest with some sweet quotes for her. I have a few more to make with pale color variations. Aren’t they sweet? I hope she likes them.

The best part of creating custom heart pieces is getting to hear the heartfelt life stories of friends and clients. I love being a part of celebrating life’s milestones, healing, love and kindness. (Best job ever!)

Valentine Blues

Valentine’s Day is only a few days away and everywhere I look I see lots of red hearts (which i love) but the soothing blue skies of a summer day is what I’m longing for. The chilly weather here in Colorado, is making me miss summertime. That’s a favorite time when I spend early mornings digging around in the dirt, planting flowers and cutting little arrangements for the house.

This little garden heart is a work in progress and will end up being a pendant on a necklace. I’ll post some images when it’s finished.
