Polymer Heart Experiments

tejaes heartsIt’s been awhile…if you were wondering where I’ve been…I’ve been working in my studio and experimenting with transfers, textures and sculpting on my polymer hearts.

My hearts are a way for me to keep a visual journal. These little hearts are for my own collection and each of them has a story.

For example: the tan one (with the flower) represents a new adventure I’m taking with our local hospice. I’ve volunteered to create heart keepsakes with messages for clients to leave as a remembrance and legacy to their family. (If you’re an artist and feel compelled, reach out to your local hospice…they can always use volunteers, whether it’s an hour a month or once a week. It’s a wonderful way to use your talents for a good cause.)

The red one represents my younger sister, we’ve recently reconnected. Although we haven’t communicated alot throughout our lives, she has always had a place in my heart. Now she’s grown and has a family of her own. It’s been great to catch up with her and I’m in awe of the woman she has become.

You get the idea of visual art, right? 🙂

Next, I’ll be creating more of my own collage images to transfer onto the hearts. This has been a fun exercise and I’m learning a few things I’ll be sharing with you in an upcoming post. Until then, have a great week!

We’re planning a trip to Glenwood Springs and the hot springs. Hopefully we won’t get snowed on. If you’ve ever been there and have recommendations on eating or entertainment, leave me a note or send me an email through the contact form. 🙂
